How to apply for International Driving License in India?

 Applying for international driving license in India  is easy and you can get the IDL in 1-2 days. You can apply in both ways- online and offline. If you want to apply through online method, below is the stepwise guide for you-

1.     Go to ITCA or any online International Driving License issuer Website.

2.     Submit your application along with the fee.

3.     You will have to submit a copy of your national driver’s license, your passport, visa, journey tickets, Form CMV 1 & 1A, form CMV 4, and 4 recent  passport-sized photo.

4.     All the Xerox documents must be self-attested.

5.     After submitting, the website process and probe your application and other details.

6.      If your application is eligible under International criteria for IDL, you will receive an email of your approval and shipping information.



If you are going to apply offline below is the step by step procedure-

1.     Go to the Regional Traffic Office (RTO), buy an International Driving License form or also called ‘Form 4’ it is easily available at any RTO.

2.     You will need documents like

a.     Indian Driving License

b.     Address proofs

c.      Visa, and journey tickets

d.     Five passport size photographs

e.     Passport

f.       Medical Certificate

g.     Application to RTO stating why you need the IDL.

3.     Take Xerox of all these documents and self to attest them, keep original documents with you as well.

4.     Submit above mention documents and pay the fee.

5.     After processing you will get your International Driving License within the same day or in some cases the next day.
