With an International Driver's License, a person can rent / drive vehicles when moving to another country.

- An international drivers license is a permit-document.

- The validity of an international drivers license is 1 year.

- It is required by an Indian citizen if he is visiting a different country and plans to drive there.

- In some countries, an Indian driving license is accepted, although it is always recommended to obtain an international drivers license. The reason for this is, if you have an international drivers license it is always easier to claim insurance.

Obtaining / obtaining International Driver's License

Obtaining an international driving license takes anywhere between 2–7 working days. You can apply for an International Driving License at the following locations:

Documents you need to obtain an International Driver's License (Zonal RTO and WIAA)

ITCA allows you to obtain an international drivers license online. However, it is more expensive to do it this way. Zonal RTOs or WIAs are cost effective and do not require a lot of documents.

Let's take a look at the documents you need to apply for an international drivers license through Zonal RTO or WIAA.

- Valid driving license.

- Secondary Permanent Address Proof (Aadhaar, Passport).

- Secondary identity proof (Aadhaar, birth certificate, ration card).

The applicable fee for obtaining International Driver License through Zonal RTO is Rs. 1000 for WIAA and Rs. 1500.

However, to obtain an international drivers license from the WIAA, you must be a member of the WIAA. This is possible only in some cities.

The ITCA allows you to apply online for an international drivers license. To do this, you need to keep the following documents:

- Scanned copy of the applicant's current driving license.
